# Prepare before leaving your employer

> Check contact details and get plan-specific answers before your work email or benefit access changes.

Before your work email or account access changes, check how you will stay in contact about your benefits. Your employer or plan administrator can explain what leaving means for your particular plans.

## Check your account

1. [Update your personal profile](/account/manage-profile) with an email address and phone number you can continue to use.
2. Complete any personal-email confirmation or verification prompt shown for your retirement account.
3. Check your [beneficiaries](/members/manage-beneficiaries).
4. Review the retirement, deferred-plan, and rewards information currently available to you. Note the plan names and any questions you need answered.

Your personal contact email and work login email have different purposes. Saving a personal email does not automatically make it your login. Arrange future sign-in access with your administrator before you lose access to your work inbox.

## Questions for your employer or plan administrator

* When will contributions or new rewards from this employer stop?
* Which benefits and account pages will remain available, and how will I sign in?
* How will my service dates and plan rules affect vested and unvested amounts?
* What happens to outstanding awards, scheduled payouts, or rewards already sent?
* Who handles any transfer, withdrawal, or payout request, and what information do they need?

Use your plan's answers rather than assuming the same process applies to every benefit. A vested value or scheduled year on a dashboard does not itself submit a withdrawal or payment request.

## Ask for a handover contact

You can adapt this message before your access changes:

> My employment with \[company] ends on \[date]. Please confirm how I will sign in afterwards, which benefits remain accessible, what happens to final contributions and outstanding awards or rewards, and whom I should contact for each plan. My personal contact details in Redii are up to date.

Keep the confirmed contact details and instructions somewhere you can access after leaving. If you also need [a withdrawal or transfer](/members/retirement/ask-about-withdrawals) or [account documents](/members/retirement/request-documents), ask about those separately.

## If you have already lost access

[Contact Redii support](/contact-support) and explain that your employment or work-email access changed. Include which company and plan you are asking about, without sending passwords, verification links, or sensitive account documents in an initial message. Your employer or plan administrator can separately confirm the plan arrangements.
